WHO ARE THE DISTRICT 1 THESPIANS?

District 1 Thespians covers the northwest panhandle of Florida where over 30 high schools actively participate in International Thespian Society.

District 1 Thespians includes following counties: Jefferson, Leon, Gadsden, Wakulla, Liberty, Franklin, Gulf, Calhoun, Bay, Washington, Holmes, Walton, Santa Rosa, Escambia, Okaloosa, and Jackson.

WHO MAY PARTICIPATE IN DISTRICTS WITH OUR TROUPE?

All Participants must be currently enrolled and attending classes at the same school as the troupe presenting the IEs. Home school students may be included in the troupes IEs if those students reside within the boundaries of that school. Any exceptions must be made to the Festival Director.

WHAT IS DISTRICT?

The District 1 Thespian Festival (a.k.a. "Districts") is a three day event at which you will have the time of your life. It is made up of two days of One Act Competition and two days of Individual Event Competition in performance and technical events.

WHEN IS DISTRICT COMPETITION?

The dates for the 2019 District Festival are November 7-9.

WHERE IS DISTRICT THIS YEAR?

The lovely Mattie Kelly Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ATTEND DISTRICT?

Registration, Bus, & Hotel is $230 per student. You can apply for a full or partial scholarship. See Mrs. Marshall for details.

IS DISTRICTs FUN?

With all the dramatic teenagers who love theatre, love performing, and love each other all in one place for 3 days, how could it not be?

IS IT DISTRICT OR DISTRICTS?

Yes. Sure. Both. Who cares?

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT WHEN I GET TO DISTRICT?

On one act days, you can expect that there will be a load in time before your performance block. Once you're about to perform, there will be 30 minutes of makeup time, then your performance. You will load out your set at the end of the block. If you aren't performing in a one act, you will spend most of the day watching one acts from other schools.

On IE days, events start at 9 AM. Most students like to go support their friends and watch IEs. You are welcome to watch any event in any room at any time. If you are performing, you should arrive to your room at the call time posted on the schedule.
